On November 1, 1927, Chris Smith & Sons Boat Company received a registration for their logo:

Chris Smith in 1919

Christopher Columbus Smith built his first boat in 1874, aged 13. It was a lake boat designed for duck hunting on Lake Michigan. He had a natural gift for working with wood. Chris and his brother Henry built more boats with great success. Word quickly spread that their boats were of exceptional quality and a legend was born. Today, Chris-Craft is one of the world's most renowned and universally recognized names in boat building.

On November 4, 1958 the Rheem Manufacturing Company received a trademark registration for their brand of heating and cooling equipment:

Rheem is a privately held manufacturing company based in New York that began operation in 1927 as a supplier of packaging to the petroleum industry. Rheem was established by brothers Richard and Donald Rheem, who had acquired a galvanizing plant in San Francisco, California. They opened another plant near Los Angeles a decade later and began manufacturing water heaters. In 1947 they began manufacturing warm air furnaces. In 1959, the company acquired Ruud Manufacturing Company, a pioneer in the industry with a well-regarded product line and a distribution network throughout North America. In subsequent years, Rheem entered the heating and air conditioning market and expanded in the late 1960's and 1970's with the rapid growth of the central air conditioning industry. In 1985, the company acquired Raypak, a leading producer of copper tube boilers used for swimming pool heating and commercial hot water supply and hydronic heating. In 1987, Rheem was purchased by Paloma Industries of Nagoya, Japan.
