The Firm's practice encompasses the following:

  1. United States and International Trademarks.  The Firm is engaged in all aspects of trademark practice, including advising, searching availability of marks, filing and prosecuting applications, as well as handling contested oppositions, cancellation actions and litigations. We have matters pending in approximately one hundred and seventy jurisdictions worldwide, and have been retained for litigation in the United States and countries throughout the world.

  2. United States and International Patent Matters.  The Firm is engaged in all aspects of patent practice and litigation. We have pending matters before numerous U.S. Federal Courts and in many countries, including numerous cases in the U.S. and European Patent Offices. Our professional staff includes attorneys with experience in chemical, biological, mechanical, pharmaceutical, electrical, electronic, textile, automotive and computer arts.

  3. United States and International Copyrights.  Because of our numerous clients in the publishing, communications and entertainment fields, we advise clients on a daily basis on copyright and related issues, including registration and enforcement of rights and defense against accusations of infringement.

  4. Litigation.  The Firm is retained for litigation in United States Federal and State Courts as well as in a number of foreign countries. The scope of litigation includes all aspects of our practice.

  5. Licensing and Contracts.  The Firm represents both licensors and licensees of copyright, patent, trademark and know-how rights in licensing and franchising activities worldwide. We are involved in negotiations, drafting, and recording of licenses and distribution agreements. In addition our staff obtains approvals of agreements from the "transfer of technology agencies" throughout the world. Our licensing group also is involved in general contracts, distribution contracts and entertainment industry contracts.

  6. Acquisitions, Mergers and Changes in Ownership.  We are retained as intellectual property counsel in corporate mergers and acquisitions. This involves the requisite due diligence work, negotiating and drafting of purchase and sale documents, associated licenses, assignments and other documents to record changes of ownership. This group practices on a worldwide basis.

  7. Information Technology, The Internet and New Media.  The Firm represents companies active in the Internet, new media, computer technology and information services. This area of our practice involves counseling and litigating claims related to copyright infringements, framing and linking, trademarks, domain names, patents, defamation and libel, invasion of privacy, free speech, e-mail and trade secret misappropriation. The Firm is also retained to negotiate all types of agreements related to transactions involving information technology, the Internet and new media.

  8. Entertainment and Media Law.  The Firm represents a number of media companies, including cable companies, television networks, magazine and book publishers. This area of our practice extends beyond ordinary copyright matters to advising and litigating cases involving libel and slander, rights of privacy and publicity, first amendment law, entertainment law, television and film production contracts, artists and designers rights, and related issues.

  9. Worldwide Trademark Watching Service.  For many of our clients we engage in watching the Official Gazettes, as well as lists of trademarks filed, in every country in the world. Our staff compares our clients' trademarks against the marks filed by others so that appropriate and timely action can be taken. The Watch Service is also made available to other firms in the trademark field who do not have this capability.

  10. Computer Services.  The Firm maintains a sophisticated proprietary computer database for trademark, patent, copyright and domain name records. The service is also available to maintain records of other firms. The system permits it to be installed on computers and/or networks at several of our clients who require daily access to their properties. It is also available in a web-based version and enhancements are underway to allow for secure access via the Internet.

  11. Trademark Search Services.  We have the in-house ability to conduct in-depth trademark searches for the United States, Canada, European Community and most European countries. We also search in all countries, utilizing experienced search firms in all countries.

  12. Foreign Law Firms.  We have longstanding relationships with law firms in all countries of the world and when necessary, utilize their services to assist our clients in various legal matters.

  13. Languages.  Because of our international practice, members of our staff are fluent in a number of foreign languages, including French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, Rumanian, Russian, Chinese, Korean and others.
